Help for Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
Sensory processing disorder can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming for kids. Whether it’s bright lights, loud sounds, or specific textures, navigating sensory input can lead to meltdowns, anxiety, and difficulties in different environments. At Clear Chiropractic, we get how these challenges impact your child’s life and are here to help.
The Common Signs and Symptoms
Kiddos with SPD may react differently to the world around them. Some are hypersensitive to stimuli, while others may seek out intense experiences to feel comfortable. These reactions can make it hard for children to feel calm and in control, leading to stress in their daily routine.
Our Neurological Approach
We focus on improving the brain-body connection, particularly through the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in how the nervous system handles sensory input. By calming the nervous system, chiropractic care can help reduce the stress that sensory overload causes. Our chiropractors want to make your child feel more in control and less overwhelmed by their surroundings.
Compassionate and Caring Chiropractic
We take a family-focused approach here, providing a welcoming and inclusive space for children with special needs. Our compassionate doctors take the time to understand your child’s unique sensory triggers and comfort items so we can create a calming environment. Our office is carefully designed to accommodate their needs, and we even offer a prep book designed by a child life specialist to help kids feel more at ease before their visit.
Helping Your Child Thrive
Through specialized chiropractic care, we work to improve neurological function, supporting your child’s ability to manage sensory input with greater ease. Many parents notice improvements in their child’s mood, reduced anxiety, and better control over sensory reactions after starting care with us.
Patient Success Story
MEET EMMA
From the start, Emma preferred turning her head to one side and showed limited use of her left arm. Though she wasn’t diagnosed with full torticollis, her mom knew exactly what to look for and sought early intervention. Initially, Emma had a delay in using her left arm, but she’s now very consistent with it and has reached impressive milestones.
This little girl has overcome several hurdles, including difficulties with sleep, digestion, and sensory sensitivities. While she struggled with reflux and hiccups in her early months, she’s now thriving, with better sleep patterns and improved bowel function. Her sensory sensitivities, such as being startled easily and reacting to temperature changes, are also becoming more manageable.
Today, Emma is hitting new milestones with enthusiasm! She’s trying to scoop with a spoon, scribbling with crayons, inserting pegs, running, and even saying five words. Car rides have become easier, and her developmental progress is something we celebrate every day.
