Dr. Makai Manuwai
I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field. And then at some point along the line, I realized I didn’t want to work in the hospital setting.
Growing up with a deep belief that his body was strong enough without medicine, Dr. Makai felt called toward a different approach. When he discovered chiropractic, “it checked every single box,” and his passion for natural health grew into a clear path forward.
Education and Training
Dr. Makai earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry while playing football at the University of Hawaii. He went on to attend Life West Chiropractic College in Hayward, California, where his focus turned toward caring for expectant mothers as well as children. Dr. Makai has completed the Webster course and is PX certified, with plans to pursue additional ICPA coursework.
Hands-On Experience
During his time at Clear Chiropractic, Dr. Makai has built upon his solid background of clinical experiences. He feels at home in the practice’s welcoming environment and is grateful to serve a patient base that truly reflects his passion and values.
A Heart for Community
With roots in Samoan and Hawaiian culture, Dr. Makai carries a sense of purpose beyond the adjusting table. “One of the biggest reasons I wanted to become any kind of doctor…is a lot of my people—Samoan, Hawaiian people—don’t know that’s an avenue our people can take. I did want to be some kind of inspiration to the Polynesian youth that we can reach higher.”
